We welcome Naomi Fowler, City of Gold Coast’s newly elected Councillor for Division 2, which covers Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island, to the role.
A successful award-winning businesswoman in the public relations, communications and community engagement sector, her election success comes following a rigorous 300-day campaign of door-knocking the local community and attending more than 85 community and sporting group meetings.

Some of the priorities for Hope Island over the next 12 months include (but are not limited to):
– A local road and footpath review focusing on key traffic hot spots and high traffic areas to ensure the Local Government Infrastructure Plan and Capital
– Works Budget are focused in the right areas
– An audit of the entire 50 parks across Oxenford, Helensvale, and Hope Island to create a plan for future investment and renewals in consultation with the community.
– A review of the city’s camera network to enhance CCTV in critical locations to increase public safety in collaboration with the Queensland Police Service (QPS)
– Advocating to the State Government to prioritise efficient east-west bus services and connections. Cr Fowler said this would alleviate traffic congestion and enhance accessibility ensuring efficient travel between different suburbs
– Advocating for additional car parking at the Hope Island Train Station
